With al fresco dining now being preferred—or even mandated—across the Philippines, one common challenge that restaurant managers face is how to seamlessly keep track of orders, tables, and payments, while providing a safe and enjoyable outdoor dining experience for diners.

With the restaurant dining app EatIn, restaurants at The Podium in Ortigas Center now have a digital partner that makes al fresco, in-restaurant dining a stress-free affair for diners and restaurants alike.

Just like the food ordering apps that most diners are now used to, EatIn lets you order and pay for your favorite meals from the convenience of your phone, while at your favorite Podium restaurants. But going further than that, EatIn supports physical restaurants and cafés with “digital waiter” support, an order management dashboard, and digital payments—all of which allows local restaurants to survive and even thrive amid the pandemic pinch.

The perfect partner for al fresco dining
For Karen Fagara, Assistant Vice President for Marketing at The Podium, EatIn is a perfect complement to the premium mall’s al fresco dining offerings.

“We’re glad that al fresco dining is now gaining ground among both restaurants and diners alike, because we truly want people to enjoy the premium restaurant service that they miss, while staying safe. On the restaurant side, al fresco dining comes with its own layer of challenges, so we’re glad to have found a partner like EatIn to more seamlessly support our al fresco dining operations.”

As of press time, the following Podium restaurants are now supported by EatIn: Madeca, Nikkei, Lola Cafe, Kimono Ken, Basil, and Bird Boss. More al fresco restaurants will onboard the platform within early May, and Fagara  also expressed interest in rolling out EatIn to more SM Supermalls.

“Consumer behaviors have shifted in this new normal, so we will need to continually innovate in order to stay relevant. The Podium and SM Supermalls are proud to be pioneering partners of EatIn’s restaurant innovations, and we look forward to innovating further to better serve our loyal customers and patrons,” she shared.

World-class innovation to #supportlocal restaurants
EatIn is developed by the global venture builder Talino Venture Labs, which co-founded the first premium delivery service in the Middle East, DINE IN, as well as other “inclusion technology” startups for underserved markets in the Philippines, Bahrain, and the United States.

For Winston Damarillo, Talino’s CEO, local restaurants are an integral part of every community’s local ecosystem, and EatIn is the company’s way of helping local restaurants regain revenue and profitability as the Philippine economy slowly reopens.
“Despite the popularity of food delivery services, many restaurants—especially those that cannot afford the high commissions being charged by food delivery platforms—will still need their brick-and-mortar establishments to survive. This is true especially in our local travel destinations, where tourism is now beginning to open up again and where delivery services are rare,” Damarillo pointed out.

“EatIn is the innovation we’re offering our local restaurant ecosystem, inspired by our work in the Middle East and in the United States. This is world-class innovation made accessible to our local market, and we’re thrilled that The Podium is one of our pioneer partners for this platform,” he said.

Damarillo also shared that, in response to public demand, EatIn will support pre-orders and curbside pickup beginning mid-May 2021 “Our local restaurants are working hard to innovate, create new revenue channels, and be responsive with the times. EatIn will be there to help them maximize these new in-restaurant opportunities.”

Aside from The Podium restaurants, EatIn is now being used by over 200 restaurants from around the Philippines. Onboarding support is available at
