With al fresco dining now being preferred—or even mandated—across the Philippines, one common challenge that restaurant managers face is how to seamlessly keep track of orders, tables, and payments, while providing a safe and enjoyable outdoor dining experience for diners.

With the restaurant dining app EatIn, restaurants at The Podium in Ortigas Center now have a digital partner that makes al fresco, in-restaurant dining a stress-free affair for diners and restaurants alike.

Just like the food ordering apps that most diners are now used to, EatIn lets you order and pay for your favorite meals from the convenience of your phone, while at your favorite Podium restaurants. But going further than that, EatIn supports physical restaurants and cafés with “digital waiter” support, an order management dashboard, and digital payments—all of which allows local restaurants to survive and even thrive amid the pandemic pinch.

For Karen Fagara, Assistant Vice President for Marketing at The Podium, EatIn is a perfect complement to the premium mall’s al fresco dining offerings.

As of press time, the following Podium restaurants are now supported by EatIn: Madeca, Nikkei, Lola Cafe, Kimono Ken, Basil, and Bird Boss. More al fresco restaurants will onboard the platform within early May, and Fagara  also expressed interest in rolling out EatIn to more SM Supermalls.

EatIn is developed by the global venture builder Talino Venture Labs, which co-founded the first premium delivery service in the Middle East, DINE IN, as well as other “inclusion technology” startups for underserved markets in the Philippines, Bahrain, and the United States.

For Winston Damarillo, Talino’s CEO, local restaurants are an integral part of every community’s local ecosystem, and EatIn is the company’s way of helping local restaurants regain revenue and profitability as the Philippine economy slowly reopens. 
“Despite the popularity of food delivery services, many restaurants—especially those that cannot afford the high commissions being charged by food delivery platforms—will still need their brick-and-mortar establishments to survive. This is true especially in our local travel destinations, where tourism is now beginning to open up again and where delivery services are rare,” Damarillo pointed out.
